The late 19th Century interest in symbolism and mysticism sparked a trend for moons, stars, comets, and other celestial motifs in jewelry. Crescent moon brooches were extremely popular; this is a classic example with an unexpected botanical detail. A slim 14k gold curve is set with a graduated arc of natural pearls.
