This Pop Art Hand-enameled Sterling Silver Fedora Hat has panache!

I've always thought there is something very special about ultra feminine women wearing menswear. Fedoras and red lipstick! So I pretended that the 50's were forward enough thinking to dare to do a Marilyn Monroe Stetson ad. I personally think sales would have gone through the roof, had they dared! 

We had Greta Garbo create her own modified Fedora, the "Garbo", we saw Ingrid Bergman in "Casablanca", and they, most definitely had a hand in the Fedora Hat coming into great fashion with women. However, apparently it was the great actress Sarah Bernhardt who first donned a version of the Fedora, and, believe it or not, it became iconic as a symbol for women's rights at that time! (And you thought I was only a jewelry designer:)

From Hatter's Heyday: Throughout the first half of the 20th century the fedora was worn by both men and women as a functional part of any well-dressed adult's outfit. Milliners modeled women's fedoras after the men's styles, using shirring and braiding to create a look for the "sophisticated female client," whose fedora was often crafted with brighter, richer colors and an upturned brim to avoid shadowing the wearer's face, according to the Metropolitan Museum.
