Inscribed in Hebrew: "בְּרֵאשִׁית" Phoenetically B'reshit or in the beginning in English the first word of the Second Rabbinic Bible, printed in Venice in 1525 and now in the collection of the New York Public Library. The orchid and foliate engraving are from the page decoration. Scholarship aside, the word is evocative and can serve to start us on any path or train of thought.
